Plug Testing: J&R Plastics' goal is to leave no stone unturned. What many companies see as meaningless, we see as a potential problem. Something so small as how a plug mounts on a tool is treated as a serious issue.

We have had a series of pull-tests conducted using the standard steel insert to determine what happens to a plug upon failure. The results were shattering, so we designed an insert that under the same loads generated significantly different results than that of the steel insert. 

Repeated tests have proven that under virtually the same loads, our inserts slightly slipped or pulled out approximately 1/32 of an inch, where as the steel insert shattered the plug. The slight slippage makes our plugs repairable. This is just another example of how J&R Plastics takes pride in delivering the highest quality thermoforming tooling available today.
